The Manse
|
When the
decision was made to acquire a manse, the committee set out in search
of a suitable house, however there was nowhere found that was both
suitable and affordable, there were many offers but none which was
right for the requirements needed. |

|
However forty years after
the first idea of a manse, Mr Samuel Warnock offered an area of
land on the opposite side of the road just across from the actual
church building, free of charge. This generous offer was gratefully
accepted and in May 1934 a manse fund was set up. By 1935 the manse
was completed and the Rev. Barkley became the first minister to
live there. |

In 2000
the manse was subject to renovations of improvements where an extension
was added. As the congregation already had been informed of Mr Luke’s
plans to retire in the very near future these improvements were
designed to attract the next minister of Drumreagh especially one
with a wife and family after Mr Luke’s retirement. |
